Mission

BHD's mission is to provide a safe and healthy environment for residents and visitors of Belmont.

Services 

BHD provides disease prevention and health promotion services. This includes, but is not limited to all inspectional services for:

    • Food Services
    • Swimming Pools 
    • Day Camps 
    • Tobacco Sales & Smoke-Free Workplace Laws 
    • Subsurface Sewerage Systems, Sanitary Housing,  & Dumpsters 
    • Mercury Recovery Program
    • Rechargeable Battery Collection 
    • Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention 
    • Body Art 
    • Biotechnology & Emergency Preparedness 
    • Communicable Disease Follow Up & West Nile Virus monitoring.

Staff

BHD consists of a full-time Director, Assistant Director, Public Health Agent, Animal Control Officer, and Public Health Program Assistant. Part-time staff include the Senior Regional Public Health Specialist and Public Health Nurse. The Department is overseen by a three-member elected Board.
