Fire Prevention
The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for issuing and enforcing permits under Massachusetts General Law 148 and 527 CMR (Fire Prevention Regulations). The division also is responsible for:
- Scheduling inspections and following up on any violations found during those inspections
- Scheduling fire drills
- Investigating any violations of Massachusetts General Law 148 or the Massachusetts Fire Prevention Regulations
- Reviewing building plans for compliance with the fire protection aspects of the Massachusetts State Building Code in cooperation with the Office of Community Development
- Inspect building projects for compliance with applicable laws and codes
- Schedule smoke detector inspections upon sale of real estate in Town in compliance with Massachusetts General Law chapter 148, section 26F
